validate

deno run -A jsr:@readma/cli validate [options]

Loads the config and reports every problem it can find before you run gen or push to CI. Each issue is logged with its level; the command exits with code 1 when at least one error-level issue exists.

Options

OptionTypeDescription
--config <path>stringPath to the config folder or file

What is checked

Required fields (errors)

All required ReadmeTemplateArgs fields must be present:

  • language, title, author, githubUsername, repoName, xHandle, domain, email, backToTop
  • images.logo
  • template.bugReport, template.featRequest
  • sections.projectDescription, sections.about, sections.features, sections.gettingStarted, sections.installation, sections.usage, sections.roadmap, sections.acknowledgments

Referenced files (errors)

FieldResolved against
images.logoProject root
images.screenshotProject root
template.bugReport.github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/
template.featRequest.github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/
cocProject root
licenseFileProject root

Warnings

  • A section value that is an empty string — it will be omitted from the readme.
  • A license set without a LICENSE.txt next to the config (pass licenseFile if your license lives elsewhere).

Example output

$ deno run -A jsr:@readma/cli validate
Config at /path/to/repo is valid

$ deno run -A jsr:@readma/cli validate
[error] Logo image not found at /path/to/repo/images/logo.png
[error] Missing required config field sections.roadmap
note

validate checks the config, not the rendered output. To catch stale READMEs, use gen --check instead — the two are complementary and both belong in CI.
